All About Roof Bars, Roof Boxes, and My Thule Story

Greetings Hiking Lady readers,

Exciting news: I have some fantastic content in the works all about roof bars and roof boxes. Our growing family was desperately in need of a roof cargo carrier for our Jeep Grand Cherokee to make our adventures possible.

First, stay tuned for a new in depth guide at Hiking 101: Roof Boxes! I will be explaining how we saved thousands of dollars by investing in a roof bars and box system instead of a new SUV, how to make the decision between a roof bag and roof box, and much more!

In the coming weeks, I’ll be publishing a review of the system we decided on: the Thule AeroBlade Edge roof bars, the Thule Fit Kit (#3142 for our vehicle), and the Thule Force XT L Roof Box.  You’ll hear the ups and downs of the delivery and installation process.  (Yes, it’s true…the delivery truck carrying our Thule Roof Box had a 700 pound safe in it, and of course it happened to fall over in transit…right onto our brand new Thule Roof Box!  Talk about putting its durability to the test!)

The Thule Force XT L Roof Box, AFTER a 700 pound safe smashed it in during the delivery process.

As you’ll witness over the months and years ahead, the vehicle portion of Hiking Lady’s family adventures should be much more comfortable, and you’ll be seeing a lot more of the Thule AeroBlade Edge Roof Bars and the Thule Force XT L Roof Box on the Hiking Lady Instagram page.

Enjoy all the new and forthcoming content!  I’d love to hear from you about your roof bar/roof rack/roof bag/roof box experiences.  Happy trails!
